New fund opens to boost rural businesses and communities in the Cotswolds.

Cotswold District Council is inviting applications for funding from the UK Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF) to support projects that boost rural communities and economies.

The Council has been allocated £229,240 from the UK Government’s fund, which supports capital projects which enhance rural businesses and communities.

This funding forms part of a wider investment package secured by the Council through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and the Rural England Prosperity Fund, designed to empower local communities, foster innovation, and build sustainable rural economies.

Councillor Tristan Wilkinson, cabinet member for economy and environment said: “We know our rural communities are full of potential and innovative ideas.

“This fund is about unlocking that potential and giving local businesses, community groups, and organisations the opportunity to invest in projects that make a real difference—whether it’s creating jobs, supporting green growth, or enhancing community assets.

“We’re looking for bright, bold ideas that will support well-being, local enterprise, and the vibrancy of rural life. I encourage anyone with a project that can bring lasting benefit to our communities to apply.”

Applications are open to rural businesses, charities, and community organisations whose proposals align with the REPF’s objectives—supporting business development and improving local community infrastructure.

Interested applicants should carefully review the guidance notes on the application form and submit completed forms by 5pm on Friday, 30 May 2025. Please note that the availability of funding is subject to final approval by the full council on Wednesday, 21 May 2025.
