Celebrating Unsung Heroes: Recognising Extraordinary Contributions to the Cotswold Community

The Cotswold District Council is delighted to announce the winners of the third round of the Unsung Heroes Awards, celebrating exceptional individuals and groups who make a meaningful difference in their communities through selfless acts of service.

This round’s recipients highlight the incredible impact of volunteers across the district, from lifesaving first responders to dedicated community advocates.

Cllr Nikki Ind, chair of the council, said, "The Unsung Heroes Awards are a testament to the incredible people who quietly go above and beyond to make our communities better places to live. This round’s winners reflect the selflessness, dedication, and resilience that make the Cotswolds so special. It’s an honour to recognise their contributions and celebrate their achievements."

  • Blockley Community Speedwatch Group

Speeding remains a concern for many residents across the Cotswolds, but the Blockley Community Speedwatch group has taken proactive measures to address the issue. These volunteers regularly dedicate their time to monitor speeding vehicles, promoting safer streets and raising awareness. Their courage and perseverance, often in the face of challenging conditions and occasional negativity, exemplify the spirit of community activism. The information they have collected has been used as evidence to support a grant application for a community Speedwatch+ non-ANPR camera and helps the Parish Council focus their resources effectively. The Speedwatch group’s efforts not only enhance safety but also inspire others to take action for the common good.
