Corinium Museum celebrates VisitEngland accreditation

Cirencester’s Corinium Museum, which is managed on behalf of Cotswold District Council by Freedom Leisure one of the UK’s leading not-for-profit leisure trusts, is celebrating after being awarded the accreditation of VisitEngland Quality Assured Visitor Attraction with a 91% rating.

Each year Corinium Museum takes part in the VisitEngland Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme. As part of the VisitEngland assessment attractions are independently visited by an experienced quality assessor and offered support and guidance to improve the quality of their visitor experience.

With strict criteria the assessors checked the Corinium Museum services and facilities offered to determine the most appropriate level of accreditation. Every aspect of the business was thoroughly inspected from the efficiency of the booking process to the level of service provided. Corinium Museum is delighted to have been awarded an outstanding 91% score, with particular mention of the exceptional service.

Vicky Parr, VisitEngland Assessor said; “The highlight of the visit was the exceptional service received from Stephanie and Samantha – with maximum scores achieved, which triggers a nomination for the VisitEngland Welcome Accolade - the museum will be put forward for consideration later this year.”

The assessor also praised the galleries, saying that they “continue to present a very high standard and the refurbished galleries offer an enhanced level of interactivity and engagement. The curatorial standards throughout the galleries are excellent and presentation is very smart.”

Emma Stuart, Museum Director said; “The fantastic score recognises the hard work of staff and volunteers across the museum service from website management to beautiful displays, cleanliness of the building and the visitor experience. We really value the scheme as it highlights best practice and recommends areas for improvement, ensuring we are continuing to offer excellent services for our customers.”

Robert Weaver, Chief Executive of Cotswold District Council, said: “Its fantastic to see VisitEngland recognise the outstanding work of the Corinium Museum. The exceptional service and dedication demonstrated by staff truly reflects our commitment to providing an outstanding visitor experience. This accreditation highlights our ongoing efforts to maintain high standards and ensure that every visitor leaves with lasting memories of our museum's treasures.”

The accreditation is valid for one year, the VisitEngland Quality Assured Visitor Attraction logo will be proudly displayed on the Corinium Museum website coriniummuseum.org
