Cotswold District Council Improves its Council Tax Support Scheme for 2025/26
Reinforcing its commitment to community wellbeing, Cotswold District Council has agreed an improved Council Tax Support (CTS) Scheme for 2025/26, which will assist residents facing financial challenges.
By increasing the income thresholds by 4%, the updated scheme will maintain the real terms value of the Council’s support with Council Tax for people on the lowest incomes in the district. The Council also operates a Hardship Fund to assist those in urgent need.
Councillor Mike Evemy, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance and Transformation, said:
“We recognise the financial difficulties faced by many residents and by improving our Council Tax Support Scheme we will continue to provide help to people on low incomes. By increasing support and broadening eligibility, we are taking proactive steps to reduce financial strain and ensure fairness for all in our community.
“We are building on our track record of providing more support than most councils to our residents who need it most. The support available is based upon an individual assessment of household income and considers the numbers of people in the household providing more support for households with more children.”
