Cotswold District Council raises the flag for Armed Forces day

A tribute to troops was flown high above Cotswold District Council offices in Trinity Road, Cirencester to mark Armed Forces Day.

Cotswold District raised the Armed Forces Day flag today to commemorate the work of our armed forces.

Every year, Cotswold District Council raises the Armed Forces Day Flag to mark Armed Forces Week.

Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus outbreak, this year’s Armed Forces Day Flag Raising event has been cancelled, however, Cotswold District Council will still proudly fly the flag.

Cllr Joe Harris, leader of Cotswold District Council,  said, “The coronavirus pandemic has affected every part of our community including how we celebrate events such as this.

"I’m very pleased that we have still been able to raise the flag this year. The raising of the flag represents our thanks to the military community who have devoted their lives to protecting our nation. I offer my respect, admiration and gratitude to our service personnel and their families, and the veterans and cadets who make up the armed forces community.”
