Residents and visitors to Cirencester are being advised that Sheep Street car park in the town centre will be fully closed from 14 October for demolition works and car park development to continue safely.

The works, which will commence on Monday 14 October, will be ongoing until the end of November. The demolition of the old hospital building at Sheep Street will prepare the site for a new layout that will create an additional 34 parking spaces.

Once completed, Sheep Street car park will benefit from an improved layout, new lighting and surfacing.

Cllr Mark Harris, Cabinet Member for Car Parks at Cotswold District Council, said: "I would like to thank residents for their patience throughout these important works.

“We will ensure disturbance is kept to a minimum for local residents and visitors to the area and I would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused."

The works at Sheep Street are being undertaken as part of the ongoing Cirencester Parking Project that will provide long-term solutions to parking shortages in the town.
