Find calm among the collections at Corinium Museum’s immersive sound bath
The calming sounds of Himalayan singing bowls will fill the Hare Gallery at the Corinium Museum in Cirencester this September, as visitors are invited to experience a special immersive sound bath inspired by the changing seasons.
Abundance: An Autumn Sound Bath will take place on Thursday 18 September, led by Simon and Jo Fellows from the Prana Sanctuary. The evening will feature crystal and Himalayan singing bowls, Feng gongs, tongue drum and found sounds, creating a "rich and slowly evolving soundscape designed to encourage relaxation, meditation and reflection".
Inspired by themes of “harvest, release, rest and the possibilities that autumn can bring”, the session offers participants an opportunity to pause and unwind in the peaceful surroundings of the gallery.
According to Simon, the event has been designed to help visitors “connect with both their own wellbeing and the history and stories held within the collections”.
He said: “Through sound and stillness, attendees will be encouraged to experience the space in a different way while taking time out from the demands of everyday life.
“This theme holds a special resonance within the Corinium Museum, where remarkable artefacts have moved through generations and cultures. Preserved here, they are more than remnants of past worlds; they remain part of a living continuum, continuing to reveal stories and inspire ideas."
Suitable for both newcomers and those familiar with sound bath experiences, the session aims to create a welcoming and restorative atmosphere in one of Cirencester's most distinctive cultural settings.

What to bring: A yoga mat or similar cushioned mat, a blanket, a small pillow, a water bottle (optional) and an eye mask (optional but recommended).
Experience: No prior experience is necessary; simply lie down and relax.
Suitability: Open to everyone aged 12 and above
