Budget Consultation Press Release

Have Your Say on Cotswold District Council’s Budget

Cotswold District Council is inviting residents, businesses, and organisations across the district to share their views on the Council’s finances as it prepares to set the budget for the next financial year.

The budget consultation will run from Tuesday 7 January 2025, until midnight on Tuesday, 28 January 2025, and provides the opportunity for the community to influence important financial decisions; including council tax and car parking charges.

The consultation survey seeks the public’s input on how the Council should prioritise spending over the next 2–3 years, aimed at addressing the funding gap and safeguarding essential services. Additionally, it invites suggestions on how the Council might reduce costs or generate additional income to tackle the financial challenges it faces.

David Stanley, deputy chief executive said: “As your local District Council, we are dedicated to providing cost efficient and valuable services. Managing our budgets responsibly is a crucial part of this commitment, ensuring we can continue to deliver the services the community rely on.

“We want to hear from you. Your input is vital in helping us navigate this financial challenge together.”

In recent years, like many councils across the country, Cotswold District Council has faced growing financial pressures due to reduced government funding and rising service delivery costs. This consultation is part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to transparency and collaboration with residents as it works to balance its budget while meeting community needs.

Residents, businesses, and organisations are encouraged to take part in the consultation online at https://your.cotswold.gov.uk/en-GB/projects/budget-consultation-2025-26

Have your say and help shape the future of the Cotswolds.
