New councillors elected to Cotswold District Council

Two new faces will be joining Cotswold District Council following by-elections held on 1 May. 

 

Nicholas Bridges representing the Liberal Democrats has been elected to serve the Watermoor ward, while Laura Hall-Wilson of the Conservative Party will represent the Tetbury with Upton ward. 

Residents in both wards went to the polls, with a turnout of 38%  to elect new district councillors. 

Following the results, the political makeup of the Council now stands at: 

  • 21 Liberal Democrats 
  • Ten Conservatives 
  • Two Green Party councillors 
  • One Independent 

The Liberal Democrats continue to hold a majority on the council. 

The newly elected councillors take up their roles with immediate effect and will begin working with colleagues to represent not only their own wards but also the wider interests within the Cotswold district.Robert Weaver, chief executive and returning officer for Cotswold District Council, said: 

“A big thank you to all those who stood, supported, and voted in the Tetbury with Upton and Watermoor by-elections. Every vote makes a difference, and we’re grateful to residents for making their voices heard.  

“We look forward to continuing to serve our communities and ensuring the Cotswolds remains a great place to live.”
