Retrofit roadshow in Kemble to help make homes warmer and greener

Cotswold householders can find out how to make their homes greener while at the same time saving money at a free event in Kemble next week.

Run by Cotswold District Council and featuring experts in areas including solar panels, heat pumps and insulation, the Retrofit Roadshow will show residents how they can make their homes more energy efficient whatever type of property they live in.

Retrofit is the term given to the process of installing new products and systems to a building with the aim of reducing energy consumption while also reducing the building’s carbon emissions.

As well as hearing from experts about the different ways homes can be retrofitted, people attending the meetings will also have the chance to hear about funds and grants to help them keep costs down.

Following the Kemble event, another roadshow is scheduled for Blockley in June.

Councillor Mike McKeown, Cotswold District Council’s cabinet member for climate change and sustainability, encouraged residents from all types of homes to attend the upcoming event:

"Whether you live in a period cottage or a modern flat, there are smart, practical ways to make your home more energy-efficient — and save money in the process.

“A lot of people assume that older properties can't be upgraded due to planning restrictions, but that’s simply not true. Our experts will be on hand to explain the options available, especially those that work best for homes in a conservation area and listed buildings.

“These roadshows are a great opportunity for anyone looking to warm their home without burning through their budget — and to do their bit for the planet at the same time. We’d love to see you there!"

The Kemble Retrofit Roadshow takes place at the Kemble Village Hall in School Road from 7pm on Thursday, 22 May. To find out more and book your place please visit our Eventbrite page.
