Rob Weaver to step down as council chief executive

Robert Weaver has decided to step down from his role as Chief Executive Officer at Cotswold District Council, effective Monday 30 June.

During his four-and-a-half-year tenure, Rob played a key role in the transition of several key services back into the council and worked collaboratively and successfully with partners in Gloucestershire, most recently to lay the groundwork for local government reorganisation in the county. He has also led initiatives to streamline operations at Cotswold District Council and improve service delivery for residents.

As he looks ahead, Rob has expressed a desire to spend more time with his family and focus on new opportunities.

At a full council meeting on Thursday, June 26, councillors will be asked to appoint an interim Chief Executive Officer, while the council begins to look for a permanent successor.

Cllr Mike Evemy, Leader of Cotswold District Council, said: "Rob has played an important role in shaping the direction of Cotswold District Council over the last four-and-a-half years – with some great achievements to boot. We appreciate his commitment and leadership and wish him every success in the future.”

Rob said: “It wasn’t an easy decision for me to make but now feels like the right time. It’s been a privilege to serve as CEO at Cotswold District Council, and to work for and on behalf of the communities of this beautiful area. I’m proud of all that’s been achieved during my time here. With service delivery under a new administration improved and the transition of services from Publica back to the council now largely complete, it feels like the right time to take up fresh challenges, as well as spend more time with my young family.”
