The gym at Cirencester Leisure Centre has been upgraded!
The gym at Cirencester Leisure Centre has now reopened following a full refurbishment including brand-new fitness equipment.
Cotswold District Council is investing £380,000 into the leisure centres to provide a better experience for members. The gym at Bourton-on-the-Water is currently being refurbished and is set to reopen on 15 October.
Cllr Jenny Forde, Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, said: “Residents have told us that they want to improve their health and be more active, that's why it’s so important for us to make this investment and provide modern facilities for people to use.
“I’m so pleased to have some good news for our residents and that we’re able to make these upgrades in Cirencester. I’m also looking forward to seeing the finished refurbishment in Bourton-on-the-Water. We hope that the improvements will provide more workout options for people wanting to become active, lose weight, get fit and improve their general wellbeing.
“Our leisure centres provide a range of different memberships and payment options for people of all ages and ability, to access these great facilities. Everyone is welcome to come and join the gym, go swimming, or take part in a fitness class such as yoga or zumba! Please do check the great offers available in your council funded leisure centres.”
The gym at Cirencester Leisure Centre has received a full refurbishment with new flooring and equipment throughout. The new layout reflects the latest trends, with more space given to functional and free weights areas, along with new cardiovascular equipment such as Arc Trainers, cross trainers, rowers and treadmills.
The new fitness equipment is also more energy efficient, reducing the power demand from the gym and helping to tackle the climate crisis.
The refurbishments have been delivered by our leisure providers SLM Everyone Active and are linked to a health & wellbeing investment proposal, which was put together to ensure that the investment meets the needs and demands of local users.
Jamie Nesbit, contract manager at Everyone Active, said: “We’re delighted to confirm the refurbishment of the gym at Cirencester Leisure Centre is now complete, giving our members access to high quality facilities to support them in being active and staying healthy.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back into the gym so they can start taking advantage of the brand-new gym space and state-of-the-art equipment. Bourton Leisure Centre’s gym refurbishment is due to be completed mid-October, so members can visit Cirencester or nearby Everyone Active sites, until we’re ready to re-open.”
