Watch out for our email – and don’t miss your chance to vote
Cotswold District Council is reminding residents to keep an eye out for important electoral registration emails as this year's annual canvass gets underway.
The annual canvass helps ensure the electoral register is accurate and up to date, so everyone who is eligible to vote has the opportunity to take part in future elections. It also helps identify residents who have recently moved, changed their name or are not yet registered to vote.
Starting on 29 July, the Council will contact households across the district to check that the information held on the electoral register is correct.
Please don't ignore the email – it isn't a scam
The first communications will be sent by email, and residents are encouraged to respond online wherever possible. This helps reduce costs and avoid the need for follow-up letters.
Importantly, the Council wants residents to know that these emails are genuine and not a scam. Electoral Services is legally required to carry out the annual canvass and may contact residents to confirm who is eligible to register to vote at their address.
Emails will be sent from [email protected] and will ask households to review the details currently held for their address.
Only one person per household needs to respond, even if the email has been sent to more than one member of the household.
Responding only takes a few minutes
Residents can respond online by visiting:
https://www.householdresponse.com/cotswold
They will need to enter the unique security codes provided in the email before checking and updating their household's details.
When responding, residents should make sure they include the names and nationalities of everyone aged 16 or over living at the address.
If no response is received by the deadline stated in the email, the Council will send a paper form through the post.
New residents may need to register separately
Adding someone to a household response does not automatically register them to vote.
Anyone who needs to register can do so quickly and easily online at:
If a new elector does not register online, the Council will send them an application form.
